This is a special song for me. In 1981, Elektra-Asylum Records sent me into the studio to demo four songs for a possible record deal. The wonderful musicians on that session were Robben Ford, Roscoe Beck, Casey Scheuerell, Lee Thornburg and Rick Kelly. We were all in our 20s and still suitably emaciated.
Although the record deal never materialized, the label really flipped over one song called “Things Found In My Pocket.” The song has had quite a history since then (e.g., various artists putting it on hold but never recording it, other musicians playing it live, strangers emailing me raving about it having heard it I have no idea how, etc.) I've kept it off all my previous albums because it never seemed to fit. So it's never been released until now.
Without further adieu – with a provocative photograph by my friend Roger Staub and elegant art direction by my long-time graphics collaborator Jack Durieux, hope you enjoy!
